Reasons why people may require a nasal prosthesis

A nasal prosthesis, also known as a nasal implant or artificial nose, is a medical device used to restore or improve the appearance of the nose. There are several reasons why an individual may require a nasal prosthesis, including:

  1. Birth defects: Some individuals are born with congenital abnormalities of the nose, such as a cleft nose or a missing nostril. A nasal prosthesis can be used to correct these defects and improve the appearance of the nose.

  2. Trauma: Accidents or injuries can cause damage to the nose, resulting in deformities or disfigurement. A nasal prosthesis can be used to restore the appearance of the nose after trauma.

  3. Cancer: Nasal cancer can cause the loss of part or all of the nose. A nasal prosthesis can be used to reconstruct the nose and improve its appearance after cancer treatment.
